My first full resolution lightning.

All my previous lightning photos have been video stills. I do not have a DSLR, or a Micro Four thirds camera. I have instead, a cheap point and shoot with no manual functionality. I got away with the 'candle' scene mode, which forces a 4 second exposure.

Storms and awesome.

After some decent storms a couple of weeks ago, I have neglected to upload the photos here. Here they are.

The second last cold front of 2012

Over the past few days, there have been storms generated from a cold front and a cold pool. These storms had heavy rain and occasional hail, but minimal lightning. About 1 strike every few hours.

I only saw about 5 lightning strikes, and I only captured (poorly) 1:
This all happened in less than a second. Frame by frame at 30 frames per second:

You can tell I was a bit annoyed I was walking along when it came time to capture the lightning.

On another note. We have had some decent rainfall.
That is a video of the rain coming through. 1 Minute = 1 Hour.

On Sunday, Perth had 21.5mm
On Monday, Perth had 10.5mm.
I personally recorded 27mm on Sunday.

I spotted these guys having a party in my back garden.

Here is the sunset I was farewelled with by the storm:

No more storm activity is expected for a while:
Chaser80's lightning detector is showing no activity near the Perth coast.

October update.

While I have been working flat out to ensure that I can complete a project, I have been taking photos still.

I put my camera in a plastic bottle. Here is what I got at my local creek. Poison Gulley.

I also went to Kings Park and surrounds.

Adelaide/Hebron 2012

No, it is not Hebron, Israel. This is in Adelaide, a Christadelphian youth gathering.
Aside from being a great place to meet people, it is also a nice place to take photos.

Here are the photos I took this year. I managed to get window seats too. Click the first photo, then use the left and right arrow keys for the best viewing experience.

More will come as I find the time to edit them. Thanks!
